Nestled at the foothills of the Aberdares in Nyeri County, Thiriku Farmers’ Cooperative Society is a story of resilience and dedication to quality. Formed in 2000, Thiriku has become a benchmark for excellence in Kenyan coffee, known for its precise washed process and focus on sustainability.
The cooperative brings together about 2,000 smallholder farmers cultivating SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian varieties at 1,900 masl in rich volcanic soils.
Ripe cherries are hand-sorted, pulped, fermented, and sun-dried on over 130 raised tables using a single, water-efficient wet mill.
Thiriku’s coffees are celebrated for their bright fruit notes, layered sweetness, and clean structure — a true reflection of Nyeri’s renowned terroir.
