Nestled on the slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater and bordering the Ngorongoro Forest,
Gaia and Edelweiss Estates are unique coffee farms where wildlife from the Serengeti freely roams. The farms sit at an altitude of 1620 to 1850 meters, with rich volcanic loam soils—ideal conditions for growing high-quality coffee.
Farm Overview:
Originally established in 1930 by German settlers, the farms were acquired by BN Vohora in 1969. Today, they are proudly managed by the third generation of the Vohora family, with over 150 years of combined experience in the leadership team.
They are committed to producing exceptional coffees through continuous innovation and dedication. Their harvest season runs from June to November, during Tanzania’s cool, dry winter. These conditions allow for slow cherry ripening, intensifying sweetness and complexity.
Cherries are handpicked at peak ripeness, carefully sorted in the field and again at the pulping station, then rested in shade before processing—a crucial step tailored to each varietal to bring out the best in every lot.
