Aceh is well known for producing one of the most remarkable Sumatran coffees in the world. Wet-hulled “Giling Basah” is a traditional coffee processing method only done in Sumatra. Unlike other coffees, Sumatra coffee parchments are hulled when they are still wet. Although this process creates unique characters in Sumatra coffee, it is also the main reason why the coffee is produced in limited quantities. Once it’s collected in Aceh, the coffee is then transported to Medan where it is sorted with colour sorter, gravity table and by hand, bagged and then shipped.
