The Farm is called El Manantial, the name came because it is surrounded by a water source (quebrada) and located in the village of Piedra Parada, in the municipality of Cabañas, Department of La Paz, Honduras, Central America at a height of 1,600 meters above the sea. This belongs to the Montecillos mountain range and protected by the laws of the country. The property is an inheritance of Leocadia Reyez Argueta, she was born in the municipality of Cabañas in the department of La Paz Honduras. (3 manzas/ 2.1 acres)
The coffee varieties that she manages are Lempira and IHCAFE 90. The work of this plot has been a tradition that comes from her paternal grandparents. Being a coffee of excellent quality, they produce their coffee without chemical pollutants and they developed in harmony with nature in where they take advantage of existing resources in the area.
They are working organically with the support of the organization, Orgánicos Nueva Esperanza conocida por sus siglas (PRONE). With the support of the community, they have trained in different topics such as agricultural aspect in crop management and implemented the development of the certification issue at the organic level which has strengthened their knowledge of learning and to coexist with nature. They’ve learned to manage the farm and their income as a result of commercialization and to be a regionally recognized producer.
