Hacienda Santa Gertrudis neighbours Podocarpus National Park and is only minutes away from Vilcabamba, a town famous internationally for its pleasant climate and the longevity of its inhabitants. At 1,600m – 1,700 high, the farm cultivates several varietals of Arabica coffee such as Caturra, Yellow Catuaí, Geisha, Sidra, SL28, Typica and Bourbon.
In 1954, Luis Emilio Eguiguren planted the first coffee trees on the farm and then started selling his beans in surrounding markets. Since then, he introduced innovations to improve the quality of his coffee and post-harvest processing, both of which made him worthy of recognition by the industry. Six decades later, the farm’s curiosity still drives the constant quest for excellence in the cup.
