Nestled on the slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater and bordering the Ngorongoro Forest, Gaia and Edelweiss Estates are distinctive coffee farms where wildlife from the Serengeti freely roams. Situated at 1,620–1,850 masl with rich volcanic loam soils, the estates offer ideal conditions for exceptional coffee cultivation.
Gaia spans 1,500 acres and Edelweiss 976 acres. Established in 1930 by German settlers and acquired by BN Vohora in 1969, the farms are now managed by the third generation of the Vohora family, whose leadership brings over 150 years of combined experience.
Harvested between June and November during Tanzania’s cool, dry season, cherries ripen slowly for enhanced sweetness and complexity. They are handpicked at peak ripeness, meticulously sorted, and rested in shade before processing — a custom approach that highlights the unique character of each varietal.
