The word ‘Mocha’ is a derivative of the name of Yemen’s Al-Makha port, through which coffee was exported to the rest of the world. Thriving in rich volcanic soil, coffee has been growing there for over 700 years now at elevations of up to 2500 meters above sea level.
With coffee being the main income for Mohammed Al Matari, who hails from the Al-Dar village, everything he has learned in this craft was passed on from his late father who in turn, has learnt the secrets of the trade from his own father! 70 years of traditional coffee growing methods and the result is this beautiful lot with its slow anaerobic fermentation.
