Finca Lerida’s reputation is as old as the first coffee that Panama exported to Germany back in 1929. The high-quality coffee produced inside this exceptional plantation made its international buyers realize that there was more to Panama than just it’s famous Canal. This was, and still is, Finca Lerida. Panama Lerida Estate is one of the oldest coffee farms in Panama, founded by Toleff Boche Monniche in the 1920s. The family farm was sold to the Collins family in 1957. The Collins family, and particularly John Collins, were instrumental in changing the worldwide perception of coffee in Panama. In early Best of Panama competitions in the early 2000s, the Lerida Estate set the standard for what coffee in Panama can taste like. This was even before the famous Geisha variety was found in Panama.
Finca Lerida then was separated by lots, understanding the differences created by the microclimates and conditions within the farm. Esplendorosa Estate was planted with Geisha due to its high altitude and great conditions for Geisha development. Its size made it Geisha heaven and has won many prizes in the Best Of Panama competition. Almost 100 years since it started exporting coffee, Finca Lerida still maintains the trademarked quality that made it among Panadam’s most famous names in the world of coffee.
